summoned Jesus and asked him: “Are you the King of the Jews?” After interrogating Jesus Pilate went back to his accusers and declared: “I find no case against
him.” 38. Learning that Jesus was a Galilean, he sent him to Herod Antipas.
Model of Herod’s Palace: Herod Antipas questioned Jesus but he remained silent. Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt and clothed
him in a brilliant coloured garment and led him back to Pilate. Luke 23: 4-12
Pilate summoned the chief priests and the leaders of the Jews and stated that he did not find him guilty of any of their charges and neither did Herod. “I will therefore chastise him and release him.” Luke 26:16
Lithostratos: At the feast, it was the custom for the governor to release a prisoner. Whom do you want me to release? They asked for Barabbas. “Then what will I do with the man whom you call the King of the Jews?” They cried: “Crucify him.”…So Pilate wishing to satisfy the crowd “released Barabbas; and having scourged Jesus he delivered him to be crucified.” Mark 15:12-15.
